When I respawned, I ran back down the ramp, heading towards the alcove on the left and... nothing. No Chariot spawned at the bottom of the ramp. Near where the last chariot shows up, there are some exposed beams you can drop down to. Following those, one way leads to a shortcut back up top and the other way leads deeper into the tomb, eventually bringing you to an imp flame pillar.
